Now, from that, you can see that there is some higher power that can impact the real economy.

Agreed but here is one even closer to GW...
The Federal Reserve decides to decrease the lending cap (loot scaling) in order to deflate the economy (gold is worth more and harder to get) and as a result commodity prices drop (ecto decreases in price.)

This is very discouraging, i haven't farm any ecto since the HM update...
Look at the price right now, 6K... I hope the price will be raise to 10k again so that it's worthy to farm ectos

You're joking right? the only reason the UW isn't totally empty is ecto farming. Those that wanted to quest there did it a long time a go when UW was considered a challenge. UW/FoW exsist because farming still does, without farming those areas would be desolate.

Well, ectos were never intended to be extra cash, so yeah. Those that used ectos as cash hopefully were smart enough to realize the risk of using ectos for that purpose. As for me? I don't trust anything that fluctuates as much as material prices has done, so I've never used it for cash.

Well, indeed, ecto's weren't meant to be used as extra cash. It's all due to the silly cash limit on our accounts. (i'm no where near that limit myself). So people max'ed out their accounts and a suitable material was chosen as currency. As long as Anet isnt directly determining the price of ecto's it's cool. They rise and fall and rise, whatever. They are matched against things which do not rise and fall in price, and this is the problem. (15k armor and the like). If Ecto's crashed, like from 6k to 1k, I'm sure we'd have some problems. (not in game, but in "support") ;p

The title of the thread is set up as a question so people are answering. Saying no I am not concerned, or I really don't care is an answer.
My answer to the question is
No, the price of ectos is not concerning me at this time

I think you mis-read the title on your way in.
My response to the title:
I don't care and it doesn't concern me. It's a game. I'll live.

Hey Herb
Valid point there, but you know just as well as I do that most people don't care about such things anymore. Even the old hardcore farmers are jumping on the bandwagon of "GW is for playing not selling" etc etc
Gone is the 2005 era of good money and decent players.

This is not a criticism so don't take it as such but, are you saying that the decent players are those that farmed? Are you also saying that playing GW is a fad that we should all get over and just get back to farming?

No. I believe that the current generation of GW players are seriously lacking compared to the older generation. This is from my personal view so take it as it is.

First of all, people posting "Nope, don't care" should learn the value of just shutting up.
Second, the "you don't need 15k armor" discussion is retarded.
Every time you buy something for a large amount of money, then see it for half that amount the next day, you're going to be pissed. The idiots posting "Nobody told you you should even have ectos in the first place!" should consider how angry they'd get if their most expensive item was suddenly worthless.
The reason people invest in ecto IS it's high value. You can only keep a mil in cash in your storage, and there will always be items worth more than 100k.
Why is ecto dropping so fast? Bot farming. Why are bots farming ecto? Because of the HM patch. So why does this concern you? Because it's a display of how fragile GW's economy is, and the massive economic problems the HM patch brought.
Before you post "screw you, rich people", stop for a minute and think.

QFT all the way. I’ve been playing since mid 2005 and it definitely was much more fun back then. ANET saying there are more players these days because of their great updates *sarcasm* is very funny and a terrible argument to state there is nothing wrong with the updates. I say your marketing team did a very good job, new players don’t know how it used to be so they have nothing to complain. Well wouldn’t that be great for ANET since Gaile Gray showed she cant stand criticism.

Valid point BUT most the people on here don't care. Cheaper items = happy times for the average gamer. Since this game is aimed at the average gamer...as for me, I gave away everything I own (yet again) going to restart on my second account just to past time until more interesting games arrive.

agreed. this game has been slowly decaying since the release of factions. I loved the old days...when stuff didnt scatter, when griffons were meant to be killed like turkeys on thanksgiving...and best of all, there was a sense of community and people who actually played good. Now, these 12 year old punks get guild wars for their birthday, come in and start whining and complaining about getting ecto down to 100g? i mean wtf. do you want everything handed to you? ok, so you get your 'fissure armor' (which btw, all look like ass), what next? do you want a max tormented shield for 100g too? how about a req9 elemental sword? start trying to earn something. you 'people' are the ones who ruined the current loot system by complaining 'oh em gee, i dun h4v monE four a Magor Viggor. Give it to me cheep plz!~'. start EARNING what you get.
